Recipient Of The 2016 Justice Net Award Of Excellence

On May 26, 2016 Sarah O’Connor was awarded the 2016 JusticeNet Award of Excellence in recognition of her outstanding dedication and contribution to the cause of improved access to Justice in Canada.

JusticeNet is a not-for-profit service helping people in need of legal expertise, whose income is too high to access legal aid and too low to afford standard legal fees. The JusticeNet lawyers have agreed to devote a portion of their practice to qualifying clients at reduced fees.

Recently, Canada’s Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin stated that
“The Canadian legal system is sometimes said to be open to two groups – the wealthy and corporations at one end of the spectrum, and those charged with serious crimes at the other [through legal aid]… It is obvious that these two groups leave out many Canadians. Hard hit are average middle-class Canadians….Their options are grim: use up the family assets in litigation; become their own lawyers; or give up.”

At O’Connor Richardson PC we want to help all clients access justice. We believe that access to justice should not just be available to the wealthy. We don’t want to see individuals forfeit their case or their position because the other side can spend more. We can work with you on fee structures and payment plans so you have representation in the Courts.
